Codes and Conventions

  • Current affairs montage title sequence, sometimes animated.
  • Upbeat music, fast-pace and loud soundtrack.
  • Contestants are sat around a panel which can be easily seen to represent two teams.
  • Can hear audience clapping and cheering before you seen them.
  • Set is backlit, at least start with, the name of the program is on the set behind them.
  • Camera zooms over audience to host and then pans or cuts to contestants as they are introduced.
  • There are lots of cameras filming the show and there are many different angles.

Peter Kay Facts

Peter Kay

  • He was born 2 July 1973.
  • He is an English comedian and actor.
  • He did a stand-up comedy tour in 2010-2011, playing to over 1.2 million people.
  • He has written, produced, and acted in several award winning television and film projects and he has authored 3 books.
  • In 2015, he starred in BBC sitcoms Peter Kay's Car Share and Cradle to Grave.
  •  In 2016, he won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Male Comedy Performance, the BAFTA TV Award for Best Scripted Comedy and the National Television Award for Best Comedy for Car Share.
  • He also received an honorary doctorate from The University of Salford.

16+, this is because there are sexual references and transgressive humor.
  • Why is it on at that time and on that channel? Link to 'type' of comedy and target audience.
It is on after The Watershed because of sexual references. It is on BBC because that's who commissioned the show.
